Cave Lodge is a mountain lodge,
nestled in the far northwest corner of Thailand, in the north's most scenic
wilderness district - Pang Mapa. We are the longest running guesthouse in Mae
Hong Son province. We cater for a wide range of guests from budget backpackers
to people seeking the most luxurious bungalows in the Pang Mapa/ Soppong/ Tham
Lod area. Our restaurant serves a wide range of food from local Shan delicacies
to bread and muffins baked in our wood-fired ovens. We provide maps and detailed
information on anything that is possible in our truly amazing district. We also
offer caving, kayaking and trekking tours for exceptional value for money. The
original owners/managers are an Australian and local Shan from our village- Ban
Tham Lod. We live here, know the area intimately, and can help you enjoy it like
no one else can. So...., welcome to our website. Check out what is possible,
read about the latest news in our area and enjoy our selection of photographs
that provide a taste of what the Lodge has to offer.
Our district is renown for its world class
caves, friendly hilltribe villages, stunning scenery, primeval forests,
whitewater rivers, rich archaeological record, abundance of adventure
possibilities, and its laid back pace of life. We are remote but easily
accessible. Cave Lodge is set on secluded forested hillside, 700 metres
above sea level, by the Lang River at Tham Lod (Through Cave) village -
8 kms north of the 1095 highway, between Pai and Mae Hong Son.
HOW TO FIND US The Lodge is a few hundred
metres upstream from Tham Lod, the most famous cave in the region. We enjoy one
of the best (coolest) climates and cleanest environments in Thailand.
To
reach us, take a regular bus from Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son or Pai to Soppong
(Pang Mapa) then catch a motorbike taxi to Cave Lodge ( in Ban Tham). Cars and
bikes take about 4 hours from Chiang Mai to the Lodge.
Guests also access the Lodge by
rented bike, car or jeep (there are excellent 'off road' routes near us,
see
GT-Rider.com
for all the best motorcycling info.) or bicycles. One guy came
from Pai on roller skates! You can also trek here (from Pai, about
3-4 days over the mountain). During the dry season there is a new 100km
back-route near the border, over 1600m high, north from the Lodge to
Pai- an excellent 4WD road.
Just follow our signs from
Soppong (Pang Mapa). We are always open and welcome everybody . If you want to
book, you can call us from anywhere on 053617203 or send us an email.
Otherwise, just turn up at the Lodge and we will look after you. Hope to
see you soon.
